About Sensory Bins
A sensory bin is a container filled with materials that engage your child’s senses—touch, sight, smell, and sometimes sound or taste. These bins are designed to encourage exploration, creativity, and sensory regulation.
Simply open the bin, spread out the materials, and let your child explore. There's no right or wrong way to play, encourage your child to dig in, touch, feel, and create!
Sensory play helps children develop cognitive skills, language, fine motor skills, and problem-solving abilities. It also provides a calming and focusing activity, particularly beneficial for children with sensory processing issues.
Yes, our sensory bins are designed for a wide range of ages. They are particularly popular with younger children, but even older kids find them engaging and enjoyable. Adult supervision is recommended for younger children, especially those under 3 years old, due to small parts.
Our sensory bin kits come with a variety of themed materials, such as colored rice, beans, or sand, along with small toys, scoops, and other accessories to enhance the sensory experience. Each kit is carefully curated to provide hours of engaging play.
We have a wide variety sensory bin themes including dinosaurs, ocean/mermaids, construction, space, garden/bugs, rainbows/unicorns, woodland animals, pirates, and more. We also carry holiday-specific bins for Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Thanksgiving, Valentine's Day, St. Patrick's Day, and the 4th of July, plus seasonal options for fall, winter, spring, and summer.
Absolutely! Sensory bins are a great tool for hands-on learning. You can incorporate them into lessons about colors, counting, sorting, and even language development. They are also fantastic for imaginative play and storytelling.
Our full Sensory Bin Kits come with a larger variety of fillers, themed figures, and tools for an immersive play experience. Budget Bags are a smaller, more affordable option that still includes a themed filler and a few key accessories that are perfect for trying sensory play for the first time or gifting on a budget.
You can add bins to your order, if you’d like. Buy the bins separately or on their own and put your own items in them.
Most of the materials can be easily cleaned by hand. For fillers like rice or sand, simply air them out after play and store them in a dry, sealed container. The plastic toys and tools can be wiped down with a damp cloth.
About Sensory Bin Fillers
We offer a wide range of fillers including colored rice, beans, chickpeas, pasta, corn, oats, and pearls. Many are available in both natural (uncolored) and vibrantly dyed versions. We also carry mixed filler blends like our Confetti Garden Mix.
The fillers are colored with watercolors, food, safe, dies, or water base nontoxic acrylic paint. The colors are bright, long-lasting, and safe for children.
This depends on the size of your container. As a general guide, about 12 cups of filler works well for a standard sensory bin. Our fillers are available in multiple size options so you can choose the right amount for your setup.
With proper storage, our fillers can be used for many play sessions. can last on average for years. The important thing is to store them in airtight containers and not expose them to water.
Each bin is different depending on the theme! Fillers may include colored rice, beans, chickpeas, lentils, oats, corn, pearls, pasta varieties, or a blend of several materials. The specific fillers included are listed in each product description on the shop page. Yes! Safety is our top priority. All dyes used on our rice, chickpeas, pasta, and playdough are non-toxic and water-based. Our fillers are made from food-based materials, and our playdough is homemade using non-toxic ingredients. That said, our products are taste-safe (not food) and adult supervision is always recommended, especially for children under 3.
Absolutely! Mixing fillers like rice and beans, or pasta and chickpeas, adds variety in texture and color and makes the sensory experience even richer. Many customers love creating their own custom blends.
About Playdough Kits
Our playdough is 100% homemade! Each batch is made in-house with care using a tried-and-true recipe. This ensures a soft, pliable texture that kids love. If you have questions about specific ingredients, feel free to reach out to us at contact@sensorynstuff.com.
Our Playdough Kits include soft homemade playdough in themed colors along with a curated set of accessories such as themed figures, charms, gems, pom poms, or other loose parts to inspire creative play. Deluxe kits include a larger variety of accessories and more playdough colors.
Our deluxe Playdough kits come with little zipper bags to store each of the playdough colors in. The smaller kits all come with a sealable jar which stores the Play-Doh so it doesn’t dry out.
Safety & Supervision
Our fillers are made with taste-safe materials, meaning they are non-toxic and food-based. However, "taste-safe" does not mean intended for eating. Always supervise young children during play. Products with small parts, figures, or accessories are not suitable for children under 3 years old due to choking hazards.
Our fillers include common food-based materials such as rice, beans, chickpeas, corn, oats, and pasta, which may contain allergens. If your child has known food allergies, please review the specific product ingredients and consult with your healthcare provider before use.
Ordering & Shipping
There are a couple of common reasons the promotion may not apply:
- The free 4-cup bag of rainbow rice must be added to your cart
- The promotion requires the purchase of an additional item and cannot be redeemed on the rainbow rice alone

We are happy to accept purchase orders from schools and approved organizations. To ensure timely processing and maintain secure transactions, all purchase orders must meet the following requirements:
- Purchase orders must be submitted on official school or organization letterhead and include a valid PO number
- Orders must be submitted from an official school or organization email address (personal email accounts will not be accepted)
- Complete billing and shipping information must be included, along with a contact name and phone number
- All items, quantities, and pricing must be clearly listed on the purchase order
- A billing or accounts payable contact must be provided
- All purchase orders are subject to verification prior to approval
- Minimum purchase order amount is $150
- Payment terms are Net 30 unless otherwise agreed upon in advance
- Orders will not be processed or shipped until the purchase order has been reviewed and approved
